Our unique healthcare forward program offers two tracks for you to choose from, helping you to achieve your specific career goals and widen your employment prospects upon graduation: 

  • Mental Health/Clinical Social Work Specialization
  • Health Specialization

 

Finishing Will Take:

  • 60 credit hours for the two-year MSW
  • 30 credit hours for one-year MSW with Advanced Standing
  • 145 credit hours for the 3+1 BSW/MSW

 

You Can Begin Your Degree In:

Fall 2023

 

You Will Take Classes:

Full-time

  • Two years online for the standard MSW
  • One year online for the MSW with Advanced Standing (BSW from a CSWE accredited program required for admission)
  • Four years at Saint Mary’s College for the accelerated 3+1 BSW/MSW

 

The Career Trajectory:

Due to the essential role of social workers, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment of social workers will increase  13% from 2019 to 2029, which makes social work one of the most critical, necessary, and in demand professions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also states the following: 

“Employment of healthcare social workers is projected to grow 14 percent from 2019 to 2029,  much faster than the average for all occupations. Healthcare social workers will continue to be  needed to help aging populations and their families adjust to new treatments, medications, and lifestyles...Employment of mental health and substance abuse social workers is projected to grow 17 percent  from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. What You Will Learn:

Our program is structured around mastering the nine competencies laid out by the Council of Social Work Education. These competencies are:

Competency 7: Assess Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities 

Competency 8: Intervene with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities

Competency 9: Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and  Communities 

 

You will engage with these competencies through field placement and classroom learning, demonstrating your abilities through field evaluations and coursework completion.
