Advanced Clinical Practicum Blogs

In your final semester of the MS in Speech Language Pathology program you will be off campus involved in direct client care for 32-40 hours per week for a minimum of 15 weeks. Depending on your preferences, the clinical need, and affiliation agreements, you could complete this final placement in your hometown or stay near Saint Mary’s. Your placement will start with observations and shared sessions with supervisors, but you are expected to move quickly into more independence and responsibility.

By the end of your final clinical practicum, you will:

  • Be responsible for 75-100% of the caseload.
  • Have gained experience with a number of different client populations across the lifespan.
  • Have completed an average of 10-25 clock hours per week for a total of 100-200 hours over the term.
