Why did you pursue this degree?
I always knew I wanted to be an advanced practice nurse, even in m undergrad program. It felt like the right time and the DNP is becoming more common.
What has been the most rewarding part of the program?
Challenging myself to think differently than I have before in terms of theory and the 'why' behind what we do.
What has been the most valuable part of your experience in the graduate program?
Learning about communication from Professor Peacock-Johnson and Sister Maureen.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Be prepared to do the work in the beginning courses and look for how they be of value to you as a nurse practitioner.
What is your favorite class and why?
The communication course has been my favorite. It helped me to focus on how I communicate with patients and what I can get out of it to provide better care.
How has the program prepared you for your career?
So far, I am still putting pieces together to evaluate how these classes apply; but I am hoping the will make me well-rounded!
